Chatsworth House is one of Britain's most famous estates, located in the heart of the picturesque Peak District National Park. The house is the official seat of the Dukes of Devonshire and has been home to the Cavendish family since Bess of Hardwick settled at Chatsworth in 1549.

The house is set in acres of parkland and surrounded by rocky hills and heather moorland, much of which is open for visitors to explore throughout the year. The vast size of the estate is apparent as visitors drive into the grounds, which are fronted by the River Derwent.

Chatsworth has been voted the best British estate several times and its midlands location means it is perfectly located to attract tourists from all over the country.

Chatsworth House is located on the River Derwent, looking out over the hills that divide the Derwent and Wye valleys. It is situated just over three miles from the popular tourist town of Bakewell.

Chatsworth is a ten-minute drive from Bakewell, a 25-minute drive from Chesterfield, 30-minutes from Sheffield and three hours from London. The estate has a charged car park, which is open all year round, and pre-booked coach parking is free, as is parking for those with a disabled badge.

Those driving from the Matlock direction should follow the B6012, while visitors taking the M1 should leave at junction 29 sign-posted Chesterfield and then follow brown signs for the estate. If using the M6, junction 19 is the appropriate exit.
